Food Truck Spotlight: Bacon Bacon

Our Spotlight this week is from Jim Angelus of Bacon Bacon. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us Jim!

Q: What sparked the interest to start Bacon Bacon?

A: I wanted to stay in the business I love, the restaurant business, but more importantly be able to be a family guy. At the time I had a newborn girl and saw a future of ridiculous restaurant hours. I thought BB would be a great little lunch business.

Q: What kind of food does your truck serve and what inspired that choice of cuisine?

A: Burgers, Grilled Cheese, Fried Chicken, Pork Fries, Pork Belly, Bouquets of Bacon, chocolate bacon. I thought there wasn’t a food truck that was serving american comfort food. What says it more than Bacon? Breakfast Lunch & Dinner.

Q: What do you recommend first time visitors to try at your truck?

A: I’m a burger guy, so I love our burger. The staff loves the chicken and the tourists love the grilled cheese because it’s been on a few Food Shows. You must get the fries, hand cut daily and tossed with fresh herbs and Parmesan.

Q: What’s the best part about serving at the SF State campus?

A: I love the demographic and diversity of the students on campus. I know what it’s like to be in college on a budget and It’s super flattering to see students spend their $$ on my food.

Q: What’s something most people don’t know about your truck?

A: I think there is a general misunderstanding that trucks, show up and serve food, with out realizing the several hours of prep before and after the shift. Most people don’t know about the draft root beer which is my favorite soda.
