Food Truck Spotlight: The Chairman

10 Oct

Our Spotlight this week is from Curi “Chairman” Kim (proud SFSU Alumna!) of The Chairman. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us Curi!

Q: What sparked the interest to start The Chairman?

A: We started Chairman for the love of bao’s! The Chef comes from a family of Dim Sum shop owners and bao’s were consumed by dozen’s at an early age.

Q: What kind of food does your truck serve and what inspired that choice of cuisine?

A: We serve Taiwanese style street food! The peking duck buns, because of its fluffy, slightly-sweet texture, it is the perfect vehicle to stuff it with as many different varieties of flavors, sauces, and toppings. Great food to consume street side.

Q: What do you recommend first time visitors to try at your truck?

A: Personally, I recommend one of each steamed! All the buns we offer are so different and unique that they all stand out to me. But if you had to choose one, it’s definitely the the 5-Spice Pork Belly bun with pickled daikon.

Q: What’s the best part about serving at the SF State campus?

A: It’s fun to see students have variety in their life at campus. Not only are there trucks, there’s Ike’s now too, right? As a former SFSU student (08′ grad here), I know I hit the salad bar/taco bar almost everyday for a bit of variety but the ingredients were a little tired.

Q: What’s something most people don’t know about your truck?

A: We have a secret menu just like In n Out! Ask us about it if your curious!
